Spring Clean

Spring Clean

2024 March

Greetings from Dubai!

Last March was crazy successful. The Barbie painting was chosen at a prestigious event of ZeeArts Gallery for Women’s Day. Representing my home country in the International Exhibition was featured in 2 Filipino expat magazines and my hometown Bicol News Network. I was quite pleased with the press release but not too much as there is another trending artist and I wanted to ride the media craze and didn’t make it. Anyway, too much for publicity, all I wanted to achieve was to drive some traffic to the website which I did. I got more or less a thousand congratulations mostly from fellow artists. I received some pretty good words from veterans in the industry on how fame have an actual money that can be derived from it. I think I need to do more paintings to prove and more business ventures to make. Over all - great month for Marketing.

After my 1 week shot to fame I was back to cooking and baking. I am becoming domesticated. Staying at home for long periods of time doesn’t scare me anymore. Or sometimes I stay in the library for the whole day. The library here is super great, I mean they have millions of books and a conducive ambiance for working. I just bring my laptop and draft away.

April is my birth month. I am looking forward to a trip to Oman (one of my favorite places) and create loads of paintings. I am targeting to have a more discipled lifestyle, God help me. It is spring here and its Ramadan, it’s a good time to “spring clean” not just our house but also toxic people around us, bad habits and stale ideas. Let’s shake off our life a bit by trying new things and new systems that might actually work out to make us more efficient. Shaking off bad vibes for the good to be absorbed, that is the spirit! In my paintings, I am thinking of incorporating black and white backgrounds and more symbolisms I hope that at the end of the month I have a decent amount of work to kick start that one-man exhibition. I also would like to improve my architecture portfolio. Might as well prioritize it too.

During the month of Ramadan and the coming Eid, I hope you had a wonderful Holiday. I hope you had a great time bonding with the family specially the 9 days holiday of Eid. Most expats which compose most of this country will be out sojourning in their home countries or some exotic beach islands. Whatever creative projects you have, I hope you make the most of the free time and the wonderful weather. Please stop scrolling on Facebook and killing the joy that spring brings us. Much love …

Xoxo,

Nellie
