2023 March
100 years ago, women were granted the right to vote in the US. Today’s blog is dedicated to all those who fought for women’s rights. Not the women we see on TV but the women we see every day: our neighbor who packed her things, kids in tow and walked out from a toxic home, the colleague who wrote to the CEO of someone bullying her in the workplace, or our artist friend who continues to paint and empower women through her social media.
I live in a men dominated society where women are being bought and has lesser rights than women from other parts of the world. I have seen how they are very submissive because that is what they think is right. And they are happy serving their men. We do not know to what extent is “serving”, we cannot judge and we can not interfere. But we have art, and with it we can influence their minds. We can show them that they are worth more than they think they are, that they deserve peace and love and that they are worthy of success.
I attended a Women’s Conference and Exhibition in Metropolitan Hotel and met wonderful accomplished women in their own fields. It was inspirational. I displayed my Antifragile painting and I hoped I inspired others too to be strong. The painting will stay in the hotel lobby for 2 months. The event can be viewed here.
As Ramadan is unfolding, I joined 3 exhibitions on this theme.
Ayah event by Paintbrush Art Community in Bahi Ajman Palace Hotel was such a success that it gathered a lot of Press. It can be viewed here, here, here and here and a lot more publication in the Arab and Indian Media.
My name was mentioned on news twice. How cool is that! Much cooler is that I had a short conversation with a Sheikh! A royal! He commented on my painting about the Arabic words love and patience should be beside each other because they work side by side. So of course, I am over the moon inspired.
Salam Ramadan Exhibition in Pullman Hotel by Funun Arts was also a success. The event can be viewed here. It has royal guests too. Madam Sultana said that I painted her home. I painted an old wind tower in Bastakiya and she said that is her home. Oh my goodness.
The last exhibit this March is Ramadan at Wafi Mall by Paintbrush Art Community. The paintings are already displayed but the event program will be held during Eid.
That’s all folks for March. I would say this month is the most successful in my artist life. Go girl! Conquer the World!
Xoxo,
Nelly
