Peace and Happiness

2023 May

Hello friends, it’s been a while. There were only a few activities this May aside from joining the event of the migrant workers and organizing the exhibition of the Filipino artists here in the UAE for the coming Independence Day. I am also regularly joining Magrudy’s art workshops.

Life is getting great, money is flowing, family is full of love and my whole being is so at peace. I never thought that I would love the desert so much. I used to resent it. But now I can see the beauty of it and I am happy.

I guess the small paintings will be more this coming months. Social Media marketing will be timelapses showing the process, perhaps I'll join art fairs but definitely less events for now. My art style also will evolve a bit and will add abstract on the background, use less black and try to make the paintings lighter and fun.

The whole May I was helping to organize the Philippine Independence Day Art Exhibition. Sir Edcel and I formed a new artist group called Filipino Artist Guild of the Emirates composed of 27 artists, it was originally Pinoy instead of Filipino to have an acronym PAGE like “We are on the same PAGE”. Sherizze and I kept on laughing about “We are on the same FAGE” really so Pinoy! The supposed to be two-week long exhibition was not approved by the Ambassador. It was disappointing and I thought all our efforts will be gone to waste but Sherizze, Sir Romeo and the other members worked hard to speak to the organizers of Kalayaan (this is a full day program of the Philippine Embassy at Dubai World Trade Center) to include us. We were given space to exhibit for free. Perhaps I can do live painting too. Let’s see.

The local bookstore here, Magrudy’s is having art workshops every Saturday at 4pm. I am a regular there. It’s a lot of fun doing art with others. It was a mix of adults and kids. There are exercises in shading, tones and shapes. Sometimes it is nice to go back to the basics. Painting fundamentals is the backbone of every masterpiece.

That’s all for now. Cheers love!

Xoxo,
Nelly
